You’re not seeing double! The Double Pole MSM with dual contacts is another great addition
to the MSM range of metal line switches.
The new MSM DPDT momentary switch is designed with two separate switching contacts.
The contacts can be used as normally open, normally closed or as change-over. The MSM
DP is ideal for switching primary and secondary circuits, where an additional set of contacts
is required for an auxiliary function. In other applications the MSM Double Pole can be
installed to operate only when depressed and held by an operator.
The MSM line of switches is extremely robust. Key features such as a stainless steel construction, with low profile mounting of only 1.7mm above the panel, combined with a
high degree of shock resistance make it ideal against vandalism. The MSM DP is availablein mounting dimensions of 19, 22, and 30mm. The standard type is designed with switching capacities 3A/250 VAC and 5A/125 VAC and the microswitch carries UL, CSA and ENEC approvals. Standard or lettered versions with optional point or ring illumination in red, green
or blue are also offered.
Background
The Schurter MSM vandal proof switches were introduced in 2005 as the first product in Schurter’s Metal Line, which provided switching power up
to 250 VAC. The new series offered the smallest mounting diameter and the widest range of mounting diameters in 16, 19 & 22 mm. Soon after, a version
for 30 mm diameter mounting and blue illumination were introduced and the popular ”blue glow” in point and ring illumination became an instant hit. MSM DP with two microswitches Schurter saw further oppo-rtunity to expand the line with a snap-in version. The MSM snap-in switch has the same characteristics
as their screw mount counterparts except for how it mounts to the panel. Its design accommodates mounting in tight spaces where the backside is inaccessible. Schurter continues to meet the
industry demands for innovation and application possibilities by adding the Double Pole MSM switch.
Applications
The MSM Double Pole is installed where signals are
needed to indicate when an apparatus is in use or
an emergency situation is present. Such applications include activating a door or gate, while signalling a
remote control area to indicate entry. Or, activating an emergency stop switch in an elevator to shut it down,
while sending an alarm to the operator at the same
time.In other applications a momentary double-pole
switch is used to operate only when depressed and
held by an operator. The MSM switches are excellent
for outdoorinstallations where it is exposed to environ-mental elements or vandalism. The ring illumination
version works especially well in dimly lit areas.

Competition
Similar products exist on the market. However, Schurter offers a wide range of mounting diameters 19, 22 & 30
mm not offered by the competition. The MSM DP has a shorter mounting depth and surpasses the competition
in Electrical and Mechanical Lifetime. Furthermore, none
of the competitors offers one stop shopping that includes
all three types – standard, point and ring illumination.
